American Jessica Pegula, the No 11 seed, beat Slovenian Tamara Zidansek, the No 24 seed, 6-1, 7-6 [2] to move into the last 16 of Roland-Garros at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Saturday.
Pegula, ranked No 11, will play Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu next.
The American won against Chinese Qiang Wang (6-2, 6-4) and edged out Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina (6-1, 5-7, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the French Open, Zidansek, ranked No 25, won against American Claire Liu (6-2, 6-2) and Egyptian Mayar Sherif (walkover).
