Australian Open champion and second seed Aryna Sabalenka moved into the third round of Roland-Garros by defeating qualifier Iryna Shymanovich 7-5, 6-2 in a confident display.
Sabalenka, ranked No. 2 in the world, will face the winner of the match between Pole Magdalena Frech and Russian Kamilla Rakhimova next.
In the previous round of the French Open, Aryna Sabalenka won against Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (6-3, 6-2).
Shymanovich, ranked No 214, beat Hungarian Panna Udvardy (6-7 (6), 6-3, 6-1) in the first round of the French Open.
