Roland-Garros: Svitolina battles through two tight sets to book spot in third round

Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, the No 13 seed, defeated Hungarian Anna Bondar 7-6 (4), 7-5 to move into the third round of Roland-Garros at Roland-Garros in Paris on Wednesday afternoon.

Svitolina, ranked No 14, will face the winner of the match between Croat Donna Vekic, the No 18 seed, and American Bernarda Pera next.

In the previous round, the Ukrainian won against Zeynep Sonmez (6-1, 6-1).

Bondar, ranked No 82, beat German Laura Siegemund (7-6 (2), 6-3) in the first round.
