Roland-Garros: Van de Zandschulp books spot in second round

Botic van de Zandschulp defeated Pavel Kotov 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 on Sunday and will play the winner of the next match between Italian Fabio Fognini and Australian Alexei Popyrin in the next round.

Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp (N.26) beat Russian qualifier Pavel Kotov 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to move into the second round of the French Open at Stade Roland-Garros in Paris on Sunday afternoon.

Van de Zandschulp, ranked No 29, will play Italian Fabio Fognini, who beat Australian Alexei Popyrin in straight sets.

In the previous rounds of the French Open, Kotov, ranked No 143, won against Frenchman Hugo Grenier (6-3, 6-4), Austrian Jurij Rodionov (7-6 [7], 6-4) and Pedro Cachin (6-3, 6-2).
