US Open: Auger-Aliassime reaches third round

Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 25 seed, won against Russian Roman Safiullin 6-1, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Thursday to advance to the third round of the US Open.

Auger-Aliassime, ranked No 27, will play German Alexander Zverev, the No 3 seed, next.

In the previous round of the US Open, the Canadian beat English lucky loser Billy Harris (6-4, 7-6 (8), 6-4).

Safiullin, ranked No 94, defeated Frenchman Gael Monfils (6-4, 2-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4) in the previous round of the US Open.
