Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 15 seed, beat qualifier Yuriko Lily Miyazaki 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the third round of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Wednesday evening.

Bencic, ranked No 13, will face the winner of the match between Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 18 seed, and Chinese Lin Zhu next.

The Swiss won against Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6-2, 6-4) in the previous round of the Flushing Meadow tournament.

In the first round of the Flushing Meadow tournament, Miyazaki, ranked No 198, defeated Russian Margarita Betova (6-3, 6-3).
