Monfils, Kwon in Group A; Bublik, Nishioka in Group B as UTS Seoul groups released

Three spots up for grabs for the UTS Grand Final in London to be held in mid-December

The organizers of UTS Seoul have announced the postponement of UTS Seoul. The next UTS event will therefore be the Grand Final, in London, from December 15 to 17, 2023, at ExCel London. 

The groups for UTS Seoul have been released with French tennis star Gael Monfils finding himself in the same group as home favourite Soonwoo Kwon while Kazakh crowd favourite Alexander Bublik being placed in Group B alongside top-ranked Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka.

Monfils (Le Monf) and Kwon (The Machine) will be joined by Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff (The Thunder) and Reilly Opelka (The Bot) in Group A.

In Group B, Bublik (The Bublik Enemy) and Nishioka, who came in as a replacement for the injured Nick Kyrgios, will face challenges from Richard Gasquet (The Virtuoso) and Milos Raonic (The Missile).

Organizers also released the order of play for the tournament which starts on December 1st.

December 1st afternoon session
 1) Kwon v Opelka – 4pm local time
 2) Monfils v Struff – 5pm local time
 3) Raonic v Gasquet – 6pm local time

December 1st evening session
 1) Bublik v Nishioka – 8:00pm local time
 2) Monfils v Kwon – 9:00pm local time
 3) Raonic v Nishioka – 10:00pm local time

December 2nd afternoon session
 1) Struff v Opelka – 4pm local time
 2) Bublik v Gasquet- 5pm local time
 3) Struff v Kwon- 6pm local time

December 2nd evening session
 1) Nishioka v Gasquet – 8:00pm local time
 2) Bublik v Raonic – 9:00pm local time
 3) Monfils v Opelka – 10:00pm local time

December 3rd
Final Four: Semi-finals and Final

The Seoul event is the third and final qualifying event (after Los Angeles and Frankfurt) for the UTS Grand Final, scheduled to take place on December 15 to 17 in London.

Five players – Andrey Rublev (Rublo), Holger Rune (The Viking), Casper Ruud (The Iceman), Jack Draper and Monfils – are confirmed or the London Grand Final with three more spots up for grabs. The winner in Seoul is guranteed a spot in London with every player in the Seoul field also with a chance to make the cut.
