Alex de Minaur broke Norwegian hearts as he defeated Casper “The Ice Man” Ruud in the Final Four of UTS Oslo.

With the victory, he becomes the first former UTS champion to return to a final – and only the second man to reach two finals, after Taylor “The Hot Shot” Fritz.

The Demon came out with something to prove to the rowdy crowd, and was firing from the off, drawing applause from his opponent with some brilliant shot-making.

“I got off to a good start, played some good tennis, was solid,” he reflected after taking the first quarter.

And he carried on in that fashion, securing his place in the final later today: 15-9, 17-9, 14-10.

Ruud’s final throw of the dice was using his bonus card with just 30 seconds of the third quarter remaining, but he could not capitalise.

“I’m sure we’re going to have a lot more battles on tour,” de Minaur said afterwards, paying tribute to his opponent.
