Wimbledon: Fonseca eases past Fearnley to book spot in second round
Joao Fonseca beat Jacob Fearnley 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (5). He’ll play the either Jenson Brooksby or Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 31 seed, in the next round

Brazilian Joao Fonseca moved into the second round of Wimbledon by defeating Jacob Fearnley 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (5) at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Fonseca is the youngest player to reach the second round at Wimbledon since Carlos Alcaraz in 2021.
He has also earned his first main-draw win at SW19, having lost on qualifying last year.
Fonseca, ranked No 54, will play the winner of the match between American Jenson Brooksby and Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 31 seed, next.
