Wimbledon: Medvedev takes out top-seeded Sinner to make semi-finals
Daniil Medvedev beat Jannik Sinner 6-7 (7), 6-4, 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon and will face the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 3 seed, and American Tommy Paul, the No 12 seed, in the next round
Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 5 seed, won against Italian Jannik Sinner, the top seed, 6-7 (7), 6-4, 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-3 to advance to the semi-finals of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Tuesday afternoon.
Medvedev, ranked No 5, will play the winner of the match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the No 3 seed, and American Tommy Paul, the No 12 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Russian beat American Aleksandar Kovacevic (6-3, 6-4, 6-2), Frenchman Alexandre Muller (6-7 (3), 7-6 (4), 6-4, 7-5), German Jan-Lennard Struff (6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (3)) and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 10 seed (5-3 ret.).
Sinner, ranked No 1, defeated German Yannick Hanfmann (6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3), Matteo Berrettini (7-6 (3), 7-6 (4), 2-6, 7-6 (4)), Serb Miomir Kecmanovic (6-1, 6-4, 6-2) and American Ben Shelton, the No 14 seed (6-2, 6-4, 7-6 (9)) earlier in the tournament.
