Wimbledon: Fourth seed Pegula into third round for eight Grand Slam in a row

American Jessica Pegula, the No 4 seed, advanced to the third round of Wimbledon by beating Spaniard Cristina Bucsa 6-1, 6-4 at the All England Club in London on Thursday evening.

Pegula, ranked No 4, will face Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto next, as she bids to reach the second week at SW19 for the first time in four career appearances.

The American has reached the round of 32 at the last eight Majors in a row now, and 11 of the 12.

Ahead of her victory, the American won against Lauren Davis (6-2, 6-7 (8), 6-3).

Bucsa, ranked No 78, edged out Russian Kamilla Rakhimova (6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (9)) in the previous round of The Championships.
