Wimbledon: China’s Wang Xinyu records first top-10 win, books spot in third round
Xinyu Wang defeated Jessica Pegula 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-1 on Thursday afternoon and will face the winner of the match between No 32 seed Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart in the next round

Chinese Xinyu Wang reached the third round of Wimbledon by winning against American Jessica Pegula, the No 5 seed, 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-1 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Thursday afternoon.
The 22-year-old from Shenzhen squandered a match point in the second set but recovered to dominate the final set against the American.
Wang, ranked No 42, will play the winner of the match between No 32 seed Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart next.
In the previous round of The Championships, the 22-year-old Chinese defeated Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-0).
Pegula, ranked No 5, won against Ashlyn Krueger (6-2, 6-0) in the previous round of The Championships.
