Zverev: “I have to believe that I can win” whoever awaits in Wimbledon final

Alexander Zverev says self-belief, not the identity of his opponent, will decide his first Wimbledon final on Sunday.

The German will face either defending champion Jannik Sinner or seven-time champion Novak Djokovic, but insisted after his semifinal win over Arthur Fery that the task would be a serious one either way. “It’s not going to be easy no matter who it is,” Zverev said in his on-court interview.

He joked: “I hope I can play a junior. That would be great. Whether it’s the defending champion or somebody who’s won here “48 times” with Novak Djokovic, it’s not gonna be easy no matter who it is against.”

“But I have to trust myself, and I have to believe that I can win. That’s what I’m going to do.”

Zverev has already met one of the two on this stage – Sinner beat him in the 2025 Australian Open final – but has never faced Djokovic in a Grand Slam final.
