Russian Polina Kudermetova reached the last 16 of the WTA $125K Abierto Tampico by defeating Australian Astra Sharma 6-1, 6-4 on Tuesday.
Kudermetova, ranked No 127, will play Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo, the No 6 seed, next.
