Marketa Vondrousova moved into the final of the Berlin Open by winning against Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, 6-2, 6-4 at the Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Saturday.
Vondrousova, ranked No 164, will face the winner of the match between Russian Liudmila Samsonova and Chinese qualifier Xinyu Wang next.
In the previous rounds of the Berlin tournament, Marketa Vondrousova defeated American Madison Keys, the No 7 seed (7-5, 7-6 (6)), Russian Diana Shnaider (6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-3) and Tunisian lucky loser Ons Jabeur (6-4, 6-1).
Sabalenka, ranked No 1, beat Swiss qualifier Rebeka Masarova (6-2, 7-6 (6)) and edged out Kazakh Elena Rybakina (7-6 (6), 3-6, 7-6 (6)) earlier in the tournament.
