American Jovic wins Ilkley title

American Iva Jovic beat Canadian Rebecca Marino, the No 8 seed, 6-1, 6-3 to win the Lexus Ilkley Open final on Sunday.

Ahead of her victory, Jovic, ranked No 115, defeated Swiss Rebeka Masarova (3-6, 6-3, 6-4), Varvara Lepchenko (6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-0), Australian Talia Gibson (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and Swiss Viktorija Golubic, the second seed (6-0, 6-3).

Marino, ranked No 107, defeated Frenchwoman Jessika Ponchet (6-4, 6-4), wildcard Emily Appleton (2-6, 6-4, 6-3), Filipino Alexandra Eala, the top seed (1-6, 6-0, 7-6 (4)) and Swiss qualifier Celine Naef (6-3, 4-6, 6-2) in the previous rounds.
