Antalya Open: Uchijima moves into semi-finals

Japanese Moyuka Uchijima advanced to the semi-finals of the Antalya Open by defeating Zeynep Sonmez 6-1, 6-1 at the Megasaray Tennis Academy on Friday.
Uchijima, ranked No 151, will play the winner of the match between Slovenian Polona Hercog and Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 4 seed, next.
The 22-year-old Japanese won against Slovak qualifier Veronika Erjavec (7-5, 4-6, 6-1) and Latvian Darja Semenistaja, the second seed (7-6 (8), 6-0) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Sonmez, ranked No 172, won against Frenchwoman Fiona Ferro, the No 8 seed (6-1, 6-7 (8), 6-2) and German Ella Seidel (4-6, 6-1, 6-2).
