Frenchwoman Varvara Gracheva, the No 8 seed, moved into the last 16 of the ASB Classic by defeating qualifier Tereza Martincova 6-7 (3), 7-5, 6-2 on Tuesday night.
Gracheva, ranked No 42, will play Swiss Lulu Sun next.
