Spanish wildcard Paula Badosa defeated German lucky loser Jule Niemeier 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 to reach the quarter-finals of the Bad Homburg Open on Tuesday evening.
Badosa, ranked No 113, will face the winner of the match between Russian Diana Shnaider and Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska next.
In the previous round of the Bad Homburg tournament, the Spaniard won against Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus (6-4, 6-1).
Niemeier, ranked No 96, edged out Greek Maria Sakkari, the top seed (2-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4)) in the 32 of the Bad Hombourg tournament.
