Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the second seed, won against Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-3, 6-1 to move into the last 16 of the Bad Homburg Open.
Samsonova, ranked No 15, will face the winner of the match between Katerina Siniakova and Frenchwoman Clara Burel next.
