Croat Donna Vekic moved into the quarter-finals of the Bad Homburg Open by winning against Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, the No 6 seed, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at the TC Bad Homburg on Tuesday afternoon.
Vekic, ranked No 49, will play the winner of the match between Katerina Siniakova and Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the second seed, next.
In the previous round of the Bad Hombourg tournament, the Croat defeated Italian qualifier Lucia Bronzetti (6-3, 6-4).
Alexandrova, ranked No 22, won against Argentinian Nadia Podoroska (6-3, 6-0) in the previous round of the Bad Homburg tournament.
