Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the second seed, reached the last 16 of the Bad Homburg Open by winning against Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova 6-1, 6-4 at Bod Hombourg vor der Höhe on Sunday evening.
Samsonova, ranked No 15, will play the winner of the match between Czech Linda Noskova and Ukrainian qualifier Kateryna Baindl next.
