Berlin Open: Alexandrova reaches last four after Kudermetova withdrawal
Ekaterina Alexandrova benefited from the forfeit of Veronika Kudermetova on Saturday and will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 3 seed, and Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 7 seed, in the next round

Ekaterina Alexandrova moved into the semi-finals of the Berlin Open after wildcard Veronika Kudermetova withdrew before the match at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Saturday.
Alexandrova, ranked No 22, will play the winner of the match between Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 3 seed, and Czech Petra Kvitova, the No 7 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Berlin tournament, Ekaterina Alexandrova beat Liudmila Samsonova (6-4, 6-3) and American Coco Gauff, the No 5 seed (6-4, 6-0).
Kudermetova, ranked No 13, won against Chinese Qinwen Zheng (6-4, 6-2) and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed (6-2, 7-6 (2)) earlier in the tournament.
