Australian qualifier Jaimee Fourlis advanced to the last 16 of the Berlin Open when Chinese qualifier Xinyu Wang retired on Tuesday evening at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club.

Fourlis, ranked No 218, led 3-6, 7-5 when Wang, ranked No 69, pulled out on Tuesday evening at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club.

The Australian will play Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia, the No 3 seed, next.
