Birmingham Classic: Potapova moves into semi-finals

Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 4 seed, edged out wildcard Harriet Dart 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the last four of the Birmingham Classic at Edgbaston Priory Club on Friday evening.
Potapova, ranked No 21, will play Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the second seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, the 22-year-old Russian edged out Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (6-7 (6), 7-5, 6-4) and American Catherine McNally (3-6, 6-2, 7-6).
Dart, ranked No 134, edged out wildcard Jodie Burrage (4-6, 6-2, 7-5) and won against Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 5 seed (6-3, 3-6, 6-1) in the previous rounds of the Birmingham tournament.
