Budapest Open: Bondar moves into semi-finals

Anna Bondar defeated Tamara Zidansek 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 on Thursday and will play the winner of the match between Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus and German qualifier Tamara Korpatsch in the next round

Hungarian Anna Bondar, the second seed, reached the semi-finals of the Budapest Open by defeating Slovenian Tamara Zidansek 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 at Római Tennis Academy on Thursday.

Bondar, ranked No 52, will play the winner of the match between Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus and German qualifier Tamara Korpatsch next.

The Hungarian won against Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto (6-2, 6-2) and edged out Swiss Simona Waltert (5-7, 6-4, 7-5) ahead of her victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Zidansek, ranked No 100, won against Hungarian wildcard Fanny Stollar (6-1, 7-5) and German Jule Niemeier (6-3, 7-6 (11)).
