Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 12 seed, reached the last 8 of the Canadian Open by winning against No 7 seed Petra Kvitova 6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-1 at Stade IGA in Montreal on Friday evening.
Bencic, ranked No 13, will play Russian Liudmila Samsonova, the No 15 seed, next.

The Swiss defeated Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-2, 6-3) and edged out American qualifier Alycia Parks (6-3, 5-7, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Rogers Cup.
In the previous round of the Rogers Cup, Kvitova, ranked No 9, won against Italian qualifier Camila Giorgi (6-2, 5-7, 6-0).
