Bencic edges Parks, moves into last 16 at Montreal

Swiss Belinda Bencic, the No 12 seed, edged out American qualifier Alycia Parks 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 to reach the last 16 of the Canadian Open at Stade IGA in Montreal on Wednesday evening.
Bencic, ranked No 13, will play the winner of the match between No 7 seed Petra Kvitova and Italian qualifier Camila Giorgi next.
The Swiss beat Italian Lucia Bronzetti (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the Rogers Cup.
In the first round of the Rogers Cup, Parks, ranked No 47, won against Lauren Davis (7-5, 4-6, 6-2).
