Canadian qualifier Carson Branstine reached the quarter-finals of the Cancun Tennis Open by defeating American qualifier Lauren Davis 7-6 (4), 6-2 on Wednesday.
Branstine, ranked No 272, will play Pole Katarzyna Kawa next.
The Canadian edged out Japanese Ena Shibahara, the No 6 seed (6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (2)) in the previous round.
During the 32, Davis, ranked No 254, won against Dutch qualifier Eva Vedder (1-6, 6-1, 6-2).
