Australian Maya Joint, the No 3 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Cancun Tennis Open by beating American wildcard Madison Sieg 6-0, 6-3 on Wednesday.
Joint, ranked No 112, will play the winner of the match between Argentinian Solana Sierra, the No 7 seed, and Dutchwoman Anouk Koevermans next.
The 18-year-old Australian edged out American Hanna Chang (6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-4) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Sieg, ranked No 364, won against Mexican wildcard Jessica Hinojosa Gomez (6-0, 6-4).
