Catalonia Open: Sasnovich upends top seed Fernandez to reach quarter-finals

Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich advanced to the last eight of the Catalonia Open by defeating Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the top seed, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 on Wednesday.
Sasnovich, ranked No 110, will face Spaniard Carlota Martinez Cirez next.
The Belarusian edged out Colombian Emiliana Arango (6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (5)) in the previous round.
During the 32, Fernandez, ranked No 25, won against Spanish qualifier Lucia Cortez Llorca (6-1, 6-2).
