Catalonia Open: Sherif makes quarter-finals
Mayar Sherif won against Ana Bogdan 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 on Thursday and will play the winner of the match between top seed Emma Navarro and Elizabeth Mandlik in the next round

Egyptian Mayar Sherif won against Romanian Ana Bogdan, the No 8 seed, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to move into the last eight of the Catalonia Open on Thursday.
Sherif, ranked No 72, will play the winner of the match between top seed Emma Navarro and Elizabeth Mandlik next.
The Egyptian beat Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
In the previous round, Bogdan, ranked No 64, won against Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz (6-1, 6-1).
