American Amanda Anisimova, the No 8 seed, defeated Russian Veronika Kudermetova 6-2, 6-2 to move into the last 16 of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Tuesday.
Anisimova, ranked No 16, will play the winner of the match between Chinese qualifier Shuai Zhang and Kazakh Yulia Putintseva, the No 10 seed, next.
Kudermetova, ranked No 52, won against American wildcard Maria Mateas (6-0, 6-2) in the previous round of the Charleston tournament.
