Charleston Open: Kasatkina books spot in semi-finals

Russian Daria Kasatkina, the No 4 seed, won against Romanian Jaqueline Cristian 6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-3 to move into the last four of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Friday.

Kasatkina, ranked No 11, will face the winner of the match between American Jessica Pegula, the top seed, and Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 12 seed, next.

The Russian beat American Ashlyn Krueger (6-3, 0-6, 6-1) and Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 15 seed (6-1, 6-4) ahead of her victory.

Earlier in the tournament, Cristian, ranked No 83, defeated American qualifier Sachia Vickery (6-1, 6-4), American Madison Keys, the No 8 seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-3) and American Emma Navarro, the No 10 seed (6-3, 5-7, 6-1).
