Charleston Open: Sakkari books spot in quarter-finals

Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 3 seed, won against Australian lucky loser Astra Sharma 6-4, 6-1 to move into the last eight of the Charleston Open at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Thursday night.
Sakkari, ranked No 7, will face Russian Veronika Kudermetova, the No 9 seed, next.
The Greek beat Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova (6-3, 6-3) ahead of her victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Sharma, ranked No 135, won against Arina Rodionova (6-4, 6-1) and Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko, the No 16 seed (6-4, 6-0).
