Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl won against American Sophie Chang 7-6 (1), 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Chicago Women’s Open.
Baindl, ranked No 83, will face the winner of the match between American Quinn Gleason and Italian Lucia Bronzetti, the No 5 seed, next.
In the previous round, the Ukrainian defeated Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus, the top seed (7-6 (5), 6-3).
Chang, ranked No 312, won against Norwegian qualifier Ulrikke Eikeri (3-6, 6-1, 6-1) in the previous round.
