China Open: Keys downs Haddad Maia to make last 16

American Madison Keys, the No 18 seed, advanced to the last 16 of the China Open by beating Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 13 seed, 6-3, 6-3 at the National Tennis Center in Beijing on Monday.
Keys, ranked No 24, will face the winner of the match between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, and American Ashlyn Krueger next.
The American won against Spanish qualifier Sara Sorribes Tormo (6-2, 6-1) in the previous round of the Beijing tournament.
In the previous round of the Beijing tournament, Haddad Maia, ranked No 12, defeated Chinese wildcard Sijia Wei (7-5, 6-4).
