American Elizabeth Mandlik, the No 7 seed, beat Ukrainian Yulia Starodubtsewa 7-6 (1), 6-3 to advance to the semi-finals of the Colina Open at the Club Deportivo Universidad Catolica.
Mandlik, ranked No 125, will face the winner of the match between Slovenian Polona Hercog and Frenchwoman Diane Parry, the No 5 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 22-year-old American beat Peruvian wildcard Lucciana Perez Alarcon (6-1, 6-0) and Brazilian Laura Pigossi (3-6, 6-4, 6-0).
Yulia Starodubtsewa won against Italian Sara Errani, the No 4 seed (6-1, 7-6 (1)) and Argentinian wildcard Guillermina Naya (6-2, 6-0) in the previous rounds of the Chilean tournament.
