American Jessica Pegula, the No 3 seed, defeated Bulgarian qualifier Viktoriya Tomova 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 to move into the last 16 of the Dubai Duty Free Championships at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
Pegula, ranked No 3, will face the winner of the match between American Shelby Rogers and Romanian qualifier Ana Bogdan next.
In the previous round of the Dubai Open, Tomova, ranked No 99, won against Estonian Kaia Kanepi (6-3, 6-1).
