Dubai Open: Gauff reaches last eight

American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed, moved into the quarter-finals of the Dubai Open by winning against Karolina Pliskova 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 at The Aviation Club Tennis Centre on Wednesday afternoon.
Gauff, ranked No 3, will face Russian qualifier Anna Kalinskaya next, in her third quarter-final at the tournament.
The 19-year-old American beat Italian lucky loser Elisabetta Cocciaretto (6-1, 7-5) ahead of her victory.
In the previous rounds of the Dubai tournament, Pliskova, ranked No 36, defeated Chinese wildcard Shuai Zhang (6-3, 7-5) and edged out American wildcard Ashlyn Krueger (6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-4).
