American Ashlyn Krueger beat Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, the No 3 seed, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals of the Dutch Open at the Autotron Rosmalen in’s-Hertogenbosch on Wednesday.
Krueger, ranked No 152, will face the winner of the match between Slovak Viktoria Hruncakova and Canadian Bianca Andreescu, the No 6 seed, next.
The 19-year-old American won against Swede Rebecca Peterson (6-1, 6-2) in the previous round of the Rosmalen tournament.
In the previous round of the Rosmalen tournament, Azarenka, ranked No 19, won against Serb qualifier Natalija Stevanovic (7-6 (5), 6-3).
