American Hanna Chang, the No 7 seed, moved into the final of the Fifth Third Charleston 125 2 by edging out Italian Nuria Brancaccio 7-5, 0-6, 6-4.
Chang, ranked No 194, will play the winner of the match between Mexican Renata Zarazua, the top seed, and American wildcard Lauren Davis next.
In the previous rounds, the American won against wildcard Madison Sieg (6-4, 6-3), Liv Hovde (6-2, 6-3) and No 3 seed Varvara Lepchenko (6-4, 2-6, 7-5).
Brancaccio, ranked No 211, defeated Austrian Sinja Kraus (6-4, 6-4), American Alycia Parks, the second seed (6-1, 6-3) and Spaniard Leyre Romero Gormaz, the No 5 seed (6-0, 7-6 (4)) earlier in the tournament.
