Grand Est Open: Martincova reaches semi-finals

Qualifier Tereza Martincova advanced to the last four of the Grand Est Open by defeating German Anna-Lena Friedsam, the No 5 seed, 6-1, 6-1 at Tennis Club de Contrexéville in Contréxeville on Friday afternoon.
Martincova, ranked No 115, will play the winner of the match between Italian Sara Errani, the No 3 seed, and Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the No 8 seed, next.
In the previous rounds of the Contréxeville tournament, Tereza Martincova won against German Tatjana Maria, the top seed (6-3, 7-6 (2)) and American Hailey Baptiste (4-6, 6-3, 6-2).
Friedsam, ranked No 87, beat Greek Despina Papamichail (6-3, 6-4) and Serb Aleksandra Krunic (6-0, 7-6 (5)) earlier in the tournament.
