Canadian wildcard Eugenie Bouchard defeated Mexican Renata Zarazua 6-1, 7-6 (4) to advance to the second round of the Guadalajara Open Akron on Sunday night.

Bouchard, ranked No 218, will play No 7 seed Veronika Kudermetova next.
