Sixth-seeded Jelena Ostapenko moved into the last 16 of the Guadalajara Open Akron by defeating Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk 6-2, 6-3 on Tuesday night.
Ostapenko, ranked No 16, sets a round of 16 clash with American Sofia Kenin, a battle of former Grand Slam champions.
26-year-old Ostapenko, a former World No.5, improves to 34-18 on the season with her win.
Kostyuk, ranked No 42, won against Canadian Stacey Fung (6-3, 2-6, 6-0) in the previous round.
