Japanese qualifier Ena Shibahara won against Australian qualifier Kimberly Birrell 6-4, 7-6 (4) to advance to the second round of the Guadalajara Open at the Panamerican Tennis Center on Tuesday evening.
Shibahara, ranked No 169, will face No 4 seed Caroline Garcia next.
