American wildcard Sofia Kenin beat Ukrainian Anhelina Kalinina, the No 5 seed, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 to move into the last 4 of the Hobart International 1 at the Domain Tennis Centre on Thursday.
Kenin, now ranked No 280, three years after her win at the Australian Open, will face Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto next.
In the previous rounds of the Hobart tournament, the American won against Chinese Lin Zhu (6-2, 6-2) and Belgian qualifier Maryna Zanevska (6-2, 6-3).
Kalinina, ranked No 40, won against Canadian Rebecca Marino (6-2, 6-1) and German Tatjana Maria (4-6, 6-3, 6-3).
