Russian Anna Blinkova, the No 5 seed, advanced to the last four of the Hong Kong Open by defeating Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo 7-6 (3), 6-3.
Blinkova, ranked No 37, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Leylah Fernandez and Linda Fruhvirtova next.
In the previous rounds of the Hong Kong tournament, the Russian benefited from the abandonment of Kazakh Yulia Putintseva (6-4, 2-6, 5-1) and won against Australian Priscilla Hon (6-1, 6-3).
