Hong Kong Open: Trevisan beats Mertens to reach the semi-finals
Martina Trevisan defeated Elise Mertens 6-4, 6-3 and will face the winner of the match between Katerina Siniakova and Pavlyuchenkova in the next round

Italian Martina Trevisan, the No 6 seed, advanced to the last 4 of the Hong Kong Open by beating Belgian Elise Mertens, the No 3 seed, 6-4, 6-3 at the Victoria Park Tennis Center.
Trevisan, ranked No 42, will face the winner of the match between Katerina Siniakova and Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova next.
Ahead of her victory, the Italian won against Spaniard Cristina Bucsa (7-5, 6-2) and Pole Magdalena Frech (6-3, 6-7 (4), 6-3).
Mertens, ranked No 41, defeated Australian qualifier Daria Saville (6-1, 6-4) and Russian qualifier Sofya Lansere (6-3, 7-6 (5)) in the previous rounds of the Hong Kong tournament.
