Halep loses to Yuan in Hong Kong Open first round
The No 6 seed from China beat Simona Halep in straight sets on Monday. She’ll play the winner of the match between Nao Hibino and Aliaksandra Sasnovich next

Chinese Yuan Yue, the No 6 seed, defeated Romanian wildcard Simona Halep 6-3, 6-3 to reach the second round of the Hong Kong Open at Victoria Park, Causeway Bay on Monday.
Halep could survive Yuan’s challenge only for 83 minutes as the latter overwhelmed her by creating 11 break point opportunities.
The Romanian broke Yuan’s serve once whereas had her own broken four times to remain without a WTA-level win in the season.
Yuan, ranked No 45, will play the winner of the match between Japanese Nao Hibino and Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich next.
